DREAM SPACE- THURS 1ST OCT

THURSDAY 1ST OCTOBER

BAD DREAM

Following our tuesday group work, where we had just began our first stages of discussions and rough designs, we now had a more focused approach to what we wanted to achieve within this session. As a group we decided to dedicate certain jobs to certain people, my job was to create the two drawings of buildings which were to be incorporated into the eyes, Georgia’s role was to draw the eyes, Faye designed the bottle, Hannah designed the dream catcher, Rachael and David worked on the 3D model, with some help from everyone else in the group.

Once everything started coming together we could finally see our initial idea working out the way we had intended. The drawing had become a lot more clearer and half finished, we were all very pleased with how it was looking, however we still have to work into it, which will allow the whole drawing to tie all together as one piece of art.

MAQUETTE
MAQUETTE

After several discussion about how we were going to make this work, we finally decided to construct a small maquette, however because we were using thin card and thread it wasn’t very sturdy and did not create the effect we were wanting. This then made us re-think our plan. We decided to keep our design the same, however we used foam board for our rings and attached them with fishing wire through the middle, this created a stronger mechanism for us to work with. We just needed to thread our threads through.

We also decided to create a stand, which would allow the model to be suspended which would help show off the whole concept. To create the stand we thought of two separate designs and chose the one which is going to be made out of foam board because this will allow a strong enough support. It took us quite a while to figure out how we were going to achieve this design however we finally managed to decide, I found the 3D model rather confusing and difficult compared to the drawn aspect of this task, I think I found it difficult because I’m not very experienced in making 3D designs, hopefully within the next few months I will be more confident in myself when it comes to creating 3D sculptures.
