dRMM Architects are a company who create workspaces which responds to a clients needs, ranging from a particular light or a company which is looking for somewhere to house its staff and investments. DrMM take into account that best work spaces are when the clients view is taken on board, they pride themselves on their ‘off-the-shelf’ material usage and how all their project are economical.

They believe that the environment helps influence the culture of society, they want to create spaces which shows an identity and sense of community, a lot of their work is within schools, this is where they try to involve a learning aspect within their design, creating initiative designs which are inspiring and creative. Lots of their projects which were a multi award winning, are the Kingsdale School, Clapham Manor School and St Albans Academy, these have all been recognized within the UK as ‘Leaders in the design of educational buildings’. They all have an original design which are economically viable and environmentally sustainable, these designs take into account the surroundings of the community around it, which helps the design of the building begin.

dRMM design the insides and outside of buildings, taking in all the needs and values the clients requested, they try to maximize space and light, they combine their knowledge of nature with hand-on experiences, this helps them gain the most out of the materials they use, this is usually timber or reflective PVC. More importantly they want to design a space that is comfortable, practical and human in scale.

They work with all types of spaces, a single room or an apartment block, they will do it. They take the same focus as they would if it were a home, they enjoy using colour and their imagination to design unique, beautiful creations. When they design apartments they try to maximize the light and space within it, they enjoy creating small little clusters of residential blocks because they believe that getting to meet your neighbors is a crucial aspect and they also want their designs to have a social aspect. They work a lot with Cross-Laminated Timber, from their small houses to big multi-story towers, this is their signature material.

Timber is the new Cement.

One of dRMM’s main aspect is the interaction of humans, all their projects have been opportunities for people to connect and meet people from around them, ranging from getting married, to looking around their exhibition, they aim to produce high-quality architecture which creates an experience when you’re inside and out. They see their projects as a way to design a dialogue with society about the value of their architecture and the importance of their use of materials.
