LECTURE 12- ZAHA HADID

Zaha Hadid is one of the greatest architects who was been seen create different designs which stand out amongst everything else. The way she designs is completely different to anyone seen before and she always thinks out the box, some of her designs have inspired many other architects and will always be a huge influence within the architecture world.

Hadid’s first building which was constructed was in the United States, the Rosenthal Centre for contemporary art, this was build in 2003 and is one of my favourite designs which she has created. This building impacts the surroundings by being so different yet blends in, the view looks as if she has stacked boxes onto of each other which creates a unique structure to the building. Her choice of colour and materials has a major role in this design as she was inspired by  Malevich’s black square painting.

I personally like this design of Hadid’s for it uniqueness and her bravery for doing everything so differently, it is very inspiring for myself as a growing designer.

Another one of Hadid’s designs which stands out amongst everyday architecture is her Heydar Aliyev Cultural Centre, her inspiration for this particular design is the idea of landscapes unfolding throughout nature, the fluid form allows for it to connect the cultural spaces whilst at the same time providing each element of the centre with its own identity and privacy.

This design is so unusual and different to everything you would normally see, it just shows that anything is possible and you shouldn’t restrict your designs.
