Due to Fitzalan square being so close to the Head Post Office which houses lots of students we wanted to find out what the student body would want from this redevelopment.
To carry out this information we decided to make a simple poster which suggested different types of improvements that could be possible within the square. These were then scattered around the HPO studios to cover all different types of students to find out the most common responses.
Once collecting these all back in we were able to evaluate the outcome and use this to influence our design proposal. When looking at the results it became apparent that the most common desire was to have more trees, seating, colour, lighting and also a very popular one was street art. We found this inspiring as Sheffield is well renowned for its street artists and the unique art found around the city, due to this we decided to tie in the street art through out Fitzalan square and also include more seating and lighting to brighten up the square and make it more approachable to students as well the public.
